MEDA works with some of the top treatment centers across the country that vary in specialty, treatment modality, environment, and location. MEDA collaborates on a variety of initiatives with its network of treatment centers throughout the year and maintains relationships with the clinical and administrative staff. MEDA clinicians make recommendations to clients to the centers that best suit a client’s current needs, location, and insurance coverage.
These treatment centers agree to the following:
- Sponsor must operate under the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES), promoting body acceptance, implementing a weight-neutral approach, and focusing on health improvement rather than weight loss.
- All of Sponsor’s staff members must be trained in trauma-informed care, understanding the impact of trauma on individuals and incorporating the standards associated with trauma-informed care into their treatment approach and delivery of care.
- Sponsor confirms that it does not use threatening or aversive techniques in its delivery of care such as: limitations or prohibition of access to the outdoors, or other behavioral consequences or punitive measures. The Sponsor avoids the repetitive insertion and removal of feeding tubes, except as a last resort in situations where leaving NG tubes in is contraindicated (e.g. in patients active purging) and all other interventions have been exhausted and bolus feeding is medically necessary. The sponsor is dedicated to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for individuals.
- Sponsor provides food that aligns with the individuals’ cultural and religious beliefs, respecting their personal choices and dietary restrictions.
- The Sponsor affirms that its staff has been trained in a standardized de-escalation model (e.g. CPI, MAB). The Sponsor ensures that it first employs de-escalation and harm reduction techniques, prior to the use of restraints for physical and/or medical safety. Restraints are used in such a way that the patients’ integrity remains intact (e.g. the patients remain appropriately clothed, staff members engage in TIC, gender affirming care).
- Sponsors work to guarantee that all people are free to self-determine their sexual orientation and gender identity and expression without facing harassment, discrimination, or violence.
- Sponsor affirms that all patients are meaningfully engaged in their own treatment goals and care.
