The MEDA Memorial Scholarship Fund for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) was established in 2021 by the Sullivan Family and is dedicated to the memory of family members Albert, Nancy, and Diane, who strongly believed that all people should have access to higher education and that all individuals deserve treatment for their eating disorders.
This fund provides training scholarships to both Masters and Doctoral level students who are pursuing a degree in social work, psychology, or mental health counseling or nutrition and who have a special interest in working with eating disorder recovery.
Scholarships from $500-$5,000 per year are awarded to students to be used for tuition, housing, travel, books, or any other living expenses associated with their course of study. The hope is that the fund will continue to grow allowing for even more scholarships to be awarded.

Can I apply for this scholarship if I live outside Massachusetts?
Yes. All grant recipients will have to submit proof of acceptance to any eligible college in the United States.
What can the grant money go towards?
For all current and future MEDA Memorial grants funds will be sent directly to you or the university of your choice. Grant funds can be used for other school related expenses, such as textbooks, student insurance, required professional organization registration fees, automobile insurance fees or any other expenses you incur for being a full-time student.
How are recipients selected?
The MEDA Memorial Scholarship Committee will use a rubric to score, rank, and select the award recipients.
Who should write my letters of recommendation?
Letters of recommendation should be written by someone who knows you well and who can speak to your career goals, your qualities, and your work ethic.
Do I need to submit any transcripts?
No, transcripts are not required for this application. You will need to submit your most recent GPA.
How soon will I be notified regarding my application status?
Recipents will be notified by June 3, 2024.
Do I have to be a U.S. citizen to apply for these grants?
No, but you are required to be a resident of the U.S. This includes international students who meet the requirements for program enrollment.
