Walden Behavioral Care

Get Help

At MEDA, we believe that there is no one way to recover.  We have discovered that many clients have found support and healing through numerous means. Our goal is to offer clients the best available options for treatment.

MEDA offers the following services:

Assessments

Designed for individuals who have concerns about their eating behaviors and are unsure if they have an eating disorder. Individuals requesting an assessment will meet one-on-one with a clinician to discuss their concerns. An assessment consists of a comprehensive evaluation and includes diagnosis, treatment plan and referrals (if applicable). Appointments last approximately one hour and are $80.

If you would like to schedule an assessment or learn more information, please call 617-558-1881 ex. 22.

Consultations

Coaching Sessions

This one-hour session is designed for family and friends of an individual with an eating disorder. Those that request a coaching session will meet with a licensed eating disorder specialist and investigate the issues and struggles with regards to the loved one's eating disorder. A coaching session provides a customized treatment plan and referrals, education about eating disorders, directions on how to connect with services, and guidance on the "do's" and "don'ts" of helping. Appointments last approximately one hour and are $100.

If you would like to schedule a coaching session or learn more information, please call 617-558-1881 ex.22.

Support Groups

Connect to Recovery (CTR) support groups are for people with eating disorders run by two fully recovered bachelor level professionals supervised and trained by a master levels mental heath professional. Potential group participants must be pre-screened to see which group best suits your needs. Once members are screened they may attend as many or as few groups as they wish. There is not an expectation that members must attend all groups. Thus, these groups are run on a drop-in basis.

Group sessions are $20 per visit (pay as you go) and are on-going (no end date). CTR Groups are held at our Newton Office (92 Pearl Street).  An intake is required before joining all groups, except CARE Group.

Embracing new opportunities for change can be exciting, and a little scary all at the same time. Moving from one phase of life to the next can bring up new challenges, and insights and additional support can be helpful when trying to face these challenges head-on. The Transitions Group at MEDA is designed specifically for those individuals who are working towards recovery, while at the same time preparing to embark on a new phase of life after high school.

Real people, Real stories

My story

submitted by Cathleen
About a month ago I had an experience that would have been unthinkable fifteen years ago.  I had brunch.  You know, that festive meal between breakfast and lunch that people tend to eat on weekends.  It’s a noun, it’s a verb.  It’s brunch!....Let’s just say this is the story of how I learned to eat brunch again.
